Export an Airtable base schema (field list)
Get a data dictionary of any Airtable base: every table, field, field type, description, select options, linked tables, formulas and views. Download it as CSV (for Excel or Google Sheets), Markdown (for docs) or the raw JSON. No signup.
What's in the export
- CSV: one row per field with table, field name, field ID, type, primary field flag, description and a readable summary of the options (choices, linked table, formula, rollup source, number precision, date format).
- Markdown: a heading per table with its fields and views, ready to paste into Notion, Confluence, GitHub or a handover doc.
- JSON: Airtable's full schema response, unchanged, for scripts and diffing.
Useful for documenting a base before handing it over, auditing which fields nobody fills in, planning a migration, or giving a developer the exact field IDs.
Need the data too, on a schedule?
The schema is the structure. ViewCourier sends the records: any Airtable view, emailed as a CSV attachment daily, weekly or monthly at your time and timezone.
FAQ
Can't Airtable export the schema itself?
Not as a file. You can see field types in the field editor and in the base's API documentation page, but there is no download. The Web API's metadata endpoint returns the schema as JSON, which is what this tool reads and formats.
Which token scopes are needed?
Only schema.bases:read. The tool never reads records, so the token can't see your data.
Does it include formulas?
Yes. Formula fields show the formula text (with field IDs as Airtable returns them; the tool replaces known field IDs with field names in the CSV and Markdown).
Is my token safe?
Requests go directly from your browser to Airtable's API; check your browser's network tab. Nothing is saved after you close the page.
