Download all Airtable attachments at once
Airtable has no bulk download button for attachments. This free tool downloads every file in a table or view as a ZIP, with one folder per record (or flat, if you prefer) and a manifest CSV. No signup, no extension.
Big jobs are split into ZIP parts of up to 500 MB. Your browser may ask once whether this site may download multiple files.
Files that could not be downloaded
Get this emailed automatically: schedule it as CSV, Excel or PDF (Free plan, no card).
What you get
- A ZIP with every attachment in the attachment fields you pick, for all records in the table or only the records in one view (its filters apply).
- Your choice of layout: one folder per record, named after the record's primary field; a flat list with the record name in front of each file name; or the original file names.
- Original files, unchanged (the ZIP is not compressed again). Names with characters Windows or macOS can't handle are cleaned up, and duplicates get
(2),(3)added. attachments-manifest.csvin every ZIP: record ID, record name, field, path inside the ZIP, original file name, size and status, so you can match each file to its record later.- Large jobs are split into parts of up to 500 MB (and 10,000 files) each. Each part downloads as soon as it's ready.
How it works
- Paste a read-only token, pick the base, table and (optionally) a view, and tick the attachment fields.
- Scan reads the records through Airtable's API (100 per request, about 5 requests per second) and lists the files: how many, the total size and the largest file.
- Download ZIP fetches the files from Airtable's file host, four at a time, and builds the ZIP in your browser's memory.
Airtable's download links expire after a few hours (Airtable guarantees at least 2 hours), so the tool fetches fresh links on every scan. Run the download soon after scanning. Up to 100,000 files and 20 GB per run; above 2 GB you need the free disk space and some patience.
Other ways to bulk download Airtable attachments
Airtable's support article on attachment fields says there is no built-in bulk download in the interface. The alternatives:
- Airtable's Scripting extension. The same article includes an example script you can paste into the Scripting extension inside your base. Airtable describes it as a simplified example that will likely have limitations, and it doesn't rename or organise files by record.
- miniExtensions Bulk Download Attachments. An extension that downloads attachments as a ZIP from inside Airtable. Downloading from multiple records at once needs a miniExtensions subscription.
- Make or Zapier. An automation can copy each new attachment to Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. Good for files added from now on; for existing records you need to run it over every record.
Whichever you use, do it soon after reading the links: attachment URLs in an export or API response expire. That is also why a CSV export is not a backup of your files, only of the field values. See why Airtable attachment links in a CSV export stop working and automatic Airtable CSV backups.
Back up the records too, on a schedule
The files are one half of a backup. ViewCourier emails any Airtable view as a CSV, Excel or PDF attachment on a schedule (daily, weekly or monthly, at your time and timezone), so a dated copy of the records lands in your inbox without anyone remembering to click download. There is a Free plan.
Also free: export every table to CSV in one ZIP · export a whole base to one Excel workbook · export the base schema as a data dictionary · count records per table vs your plan limit · print a view or save it as PDF.
FAQ
Can Airtable bulk download attachments by itself?
No. Airtable's own help article says there is no built-in bulk download in the interface. You can download files one by one from the expanded record, or use the API, a script or an extension, which is what this tool does through the API.
Does it keep files organised by record?
Yes, with the default layout every record gets its own folder, named after its primary field (or its record ID when that's empty). Records with the same name get separate folders with (2) added. The manifest CSV maps every file back to its record ID.
Is there a file size limit?
The tool handles up to 100,000 files and 20 GB per run, in ZIP parts of up to 500 MB. Everything is held in browser memory one part at a time, so a desktop browser works best. For more, filter the view and run it in batches.
I only have access to an Interface. Can I use this?
No. The token needs access to the base itself, and only base collaborators can create a token for it. Ask a base owner or creator to run the tool or share the files.
Is my token safe?
The token stays in this browser tab and is sent only to Airtable's API. File downloads go to Airtable's file host without the token. You can check both in your browser's network tab. Nothing is saved after you close the page.
