How to sync an Airtable view to Google Sheets automatically (no Zapier)

You want an Airtable view to show up in a Google Sheet and stay current: for a dashboard, a pivot table, a client who lives in Sheets, or a formula that Airtable can't do. Airtable has no built-in sync to Google Sheets, so here are the real options and a setup that takes about five minutes.

The options

How IMPORTDATA keeps the sheet current

IMPORTDATA(url) imports a .csv or .tsv file from a URL into the sheet. Google's help article on spreadsheet calculation settings says import functions (IMPORTDATA, IMPORTHTML, IMPORTXML and IMPORTFEED) are recalculated every hour. So the sheet follows your Airtable view, about an hour behind at most, with nothing to run or maintain.

Step by step with ViewCourier

  1. Create an Airtable personal access token. Go to airtable.com/create/tokens, add the scopes data.records:read and schema.bases:read (both read-only), add the base under Access, and copy the token.
  2. Connect it. Sign in to ViewCourier and paste the token. It's encrypted at rest.
  3. Pick the base, table and view. Create an export for the view you want in Sheets. The schedule and recipients are for the optional email; the link works either way.
  4. Create the live CSV link. On the dashboard, open Live CSV link under the export and click Create live CSV link. You get a private URL and a ready-made formula.
  5. Paste the formula in cell A1 of an empty sheet tab:
    =IMPORTDATA("https://viewcourier.com/feed/…")
The view's header row lands in row 1 and the records below it.

Things to know

Want it in Excel instead?

The same link works in Excel through Power Query, with a refresh button and an optional refresh interval. See how to pull an Airtable view into Excel with Power Query. If you'd rather get a file in your inbox, see how to export an Airtable view to CSV automatically.

Get your live CSV link

Connect a read-only Airtable token, pick a view, and turn on its live CSV link. It's included in Starter, Pro and the free trial, alongside scheduled CSV or Excel emails. The free trial lasts 14 days and needs no credit card.
