miniExtensions alternative for scheduled Airtable exports
Updated
miniExtensions is a toolbox for Airtable: forms, portals, interfaces and a catalogue of 60+ background automations. One of those automations, the CSV Exporter, can email a link to a CSV of your records on a schedule. If that is what you are comparing, this page sets it next to ViewCourier, which does one thing: it emails an Airtable view as a file on a schedule. The two are built for different jobs, and for some teams the right answer is miniExtensions.
Facts about miniExtensions below come from its public pricing page and help articles, checked in October 2026. Their prices are in US dollars, ours in euros. Check both sites before you buy.
What the miniExtensions CSV Exporter does
According to its product page and help articles, you create the automation in the miniExtensions web app, connect a base, and choose a table. An Airtable view can be used to filter which records are included. You then pick the fields that go into the CSV. The result is a reusable CSV URL.
There are two export modes, and the mode matters more than anything else on this page:
- Limited export with real-time data. The URL builds the CSV from current Airtable data when it is opened. On paid plans it includes up to 2,000 records (10 on the free plan). Recent changes in Airtable can take up to a minute to show up.
- Scheduled, complete export. The URL serves the most recently generated file, refreshed when the automation runs or when you click Generate Now. Paid plans include all matching records. After a refresh, the link can still serve the previous version for up to five minutes.
The email schedule lives in a section called Scheduled Email Delivery. You enter recipients, choose how often it runs (every 15 minutes, hourly, daily or weekly are the options in the help article) and can switch on an email when sending fails. Two details to know: the schedule is only available in the real-time mode, so the 2,000-record limit applies, and the email contains a link to the CSV rather than the file itself. Their own page points out that what a recipient gets depends on when they open the link.
Other things from the documentation worth knowing:
- Filtering by view and choosing columns are separate steps. Hiding a field in the Airtable view does not remove it from the export; you tick the export fields yourself.
- Rich-text fields are exported as plain text, and long rich-text values may be shortened.
- A CSV contains field values, not the attachment files.
- The same CSV URL can be fetched by other tools, for example a Zapier or Make workflow or a WordPress importer.
Pricing model
The miniExtensions pricing page lists four plans: Free ($0), Basic ($29 a month, or $19 a month billed annually), Premium ($89, or $69 annually) and Scale ($189, or $149 annually). All plans include unlimited records, end users, builders and bases. What grows with the price is the number of extensions (Basic has 1, Premium 4, Scale 8, where an extension is a form, portal or interface) and a custom domain on Scale. Every plan lists 50 automations from the 60+ available, and the CSV Exporter is one of those automations.
This model is good value if you use the forms, portals or interfaces, because you pay per extension and not per person who fills in a form or logs in. If you only want the CSV email, you are paying for a platform and using one corner of it. The free plan is for testing: the CSV Exporter processes up to 10 records there. New accounts also start on a 14-day trial.
ViewCourier's pricing is shorter. Free (€0) covers one weekly or monthly export of up to 1,000 rows. Starter (€9 a month) gives 3 exports of up to 5,000 rows, daily schedules and live CSV links. Pro (€19 a month) gives 25 exports of up to 50,000 rows and hourly schedules. Paid features have a 14-day trial without a card.
Side by side
- What it is: miniExtensions is a platform of forms, portals, interfaces and automations. ViewCourier is only a scheduled view export.
- What lands in the inbox: miniExtensions emails a link to the CSV. ViewCourier attaches the file (CSV, Excel .xlsx or a PDF report) to the email.
- Row limit on scheduled emails: 2,000 records for miniExtensions' emailed links (real-time mode). 1,000, 5,000 or 50,000 rows on ViewCourier's Free, Starter and Pro plans.
- Frequency: miniExtensions goes down to every 15 minutes. ViewCourier goes down to hourly on Pro, and daily on Starter.
- Columns: in miniExtensions you pick the export fields. In ViewCourier the view's visible fields decide, along with its filters and sort, so changing the view in Airtable changes the next file.
- Live link for a spreadsheet: both give you a CSV URL. ViewCourier's is meant for Google Sheets
IMPORTDATAor Excel Power Query; see the Google Sheets guide. - Setup: miniExtensions needs an account in its web app, a connected Airtable base, then the automation with mode, fields and schedule. ViewCourier needs a read-only Airtable token, a view, a format, recipients and a time.
- Cheapest paid plan: $29 a month ($19 billed annually) for miniExtensions Basic, €9 for ViewCourier Starter. The scope differs, so the numbers only compare fairly if you would use just the export.
When to pick miniExtensions
- You also want forms, portals or interfaces. If you are already looking at miniExtensions for a client portal or a better form, the CSV Exporter comes with it and replaces a separate tool.
- You need a frequent schedule. Every 15 minutes is not something ViewCourier offers.
- You need to feed another system from a URL. A stable CSV link that Zapier, Make or an importer fetches is a core use of the CSV Exporter.
- You need other automations. PDF generation from templates, bulk attachment download, CSV import into Airtable and the rest of the catalogue are outside what ViewCourier does.
- Your dataset is larger than 50,000 rows. miniExtensions' scheduled complete export includes all matching records on paid plans.
When to pick ViewCourier
- The reader is a person with an inbox. A manager, client or accountant who wants a file in the morning, without clicking a link that might show different data by the time they open it.
- You want a dated, frozen file. A weekly report is more useful when the Monday email contains Monday's numbers. Each ViewCourier run attaches a file named after the view and date, such as
Orders-2026-10-26.csv, so the mailbox becomes a simple archive. - The view is the whole definition. You already have a filtered, sorted view people trust, and you do not want to also maintain a list of export fields.
- You want Excel or PDF, not only CSV. See the PDF guide.
- You do not need the rest of a platform. The free plan or €9 covers many reporting setups.
Using both
Nothing stops a team from using miniExtensions for a portal and its CSV URL for a pipeline, and ViewCourier for the weekly client email. They do not conflict. ViewCourier only needs a read-only token.
Questions to ask before you choose
- Does the recipient need the data as it was at a set time, or whatever is current when they open the link?
- Will the view ever exceed 2,000 records? If yes and you need email, compare row limits first.
- Do you need anything beyond export from the same vendor?
- Is the schedule hourly or slower, or do you need minutes?
If the answers are "as of a set time", "maybe", "no" and "slower", ViewCourier is the simpler fit. Other options are in the full comparison of Airtable CSV export tools, and the basics are in how to export an Airtable view to CSV automatically.
FAQ
Does miniExtensions have a scheduled CSV export for Airtable?
Yes. Its CSV Exporter automation can email a link to the CSV on a schedule (every 15 minutes, hourly, daily or weekly according to its help article). The schedule only works in the real-time export mode, and what recipients get is a download link, not an attached file.
How much does miniExtensions cost?
Its pricing page lists Free at $0, Basic at $29 a month ($19 a month billed annually), Premium at $89 ($69 annually) and Scale at $189 ($149 annually). Plans are priced per extension, not per user or record. On the free plan the CSV Exporter is limited to 10 records. Check the page for current numbers.
What is the record limit of the miniExtensions CSV Exporter?
In real-time mode, up to 2,000 records on paid plans and 10 on the free plan. In scheduled complete-export mode, all matching records on paid plans (10 on free), served from a cached file that is refreshed on a schedule or with Generate Now. The email schedule is only available in real-time mode.
Do I need a miniExtensions subscription if I only want a weekly CSV email?
For real use, yes: the free plan only tests the exporter with 10 records, and Basic is the cheapest paid plan on the pricing page. If a weekly or monthly emailed export of up to 1,000 rows is enough, ViewCourier has a free plan for exactly that.
Can ViewCourier send an Airtable view to people who do not use Airtable?
Yes. Recipients only need an email address. Each run attaches the file (CSV, Excel or PDF) to the email, so they do not need a link, a login or an Airtable seat. Up to five recipients per export.
Is ViewCourier affiliated with Airtable or miniExtensions?
No. ViewCourier is a product of BASIT B.V. and is not affiliated with Airtable or with miniExtensions. The miniExtensions facts here come from its public pricing page and help articles, checked in October 2026.
